Plant System by Serene

Hi, everyone, I am going to share more about Plant System.:)
Plants have different parts and each part performs different functions. The parts of a plant include the leaves, roots, stems, flowers and fruits. A plant system is made up of different parts of a plant working together, each performing its own function.
LEAVES: The leaves of a plant make food for the plant. Hence, a plant will die if all the leaves are plucked off. The leaves contain chlorophyll which traps the sunlight and allowing it to make food. Leaves can be classified according to their shapes, colours and types of edges. They also have different leaves patterns: network and parallel.
ROOTS: The roots of a plant absorb water and dissolved mineral salts through their root hairs. The roots also help to keep the plant firmly in the soil.
STEM: Trees and shruns have strong woody stems and they can stand upright and their leaves can get the maximum amount of sunlight. There are many tubes inside a stem whereby some of the tubes carry water and mineral salts. Another set of tubes carry food made by the leaves to other parts of the plants.

Skeletal System by Chayan

Skeletal System :

  • Skeletal system is made up of backbone or spine, hip bone, ribs, skull and all other bones in the body.
  • There are 206 bones in an adult's body.
  • The main functions of skeletal system are to give the body its shape, support the body, work with the muscular system to enable movement and to protect the important organs in the body such as the heart, lungs and brain.

More about the digestive system

  • saliva in your mouth breaks down the chemical in your food a bit.
  • The saliva also makes the food soft and mushy and easy to swallow.
  • The tongue also helps , while your teeth is chewing the tongue will push the food around.
  • When you are ready to swallow, the tongue will push a bit of mushed foo called a bolus .
  • And soon it will travel down a tube called gullet also known as (Esophagus)

Facts

  1. Do you know why we choke ? I know it is because we got 2 tubes the windpipe and the gullet so sometimes it will accidentally go down the windpipe .
  2. Do you know how long is your small intestine ? I know it is as long as your own height.

Plant system by Joline

A plant is a system. A plant has plant parts such as leaves, stem and roots. A leaf is also make up of different parts. Their parts
are leaf stalk, leaf blade and veins. Some leaves does not have leaf stalks. The function of the leaves is to make food for the plant. this process is called photosynthesis. There are different kinds of edges. Like tooth edge, lobed edge, smooth edge. Functions of roots,:
A plant is firmly held to the ground by its roots.
Roots also absord water ,nutrients and mineral salts from the soil. Mineral salts are substances which are needed for plants to grow well. Water is needed for keeping the fleshy parts of a plant firm and for making food. Without roots, the leaves cannot make food and the plants cannot grow healthily. Some roots store food and are edible. Like the turnip, carrot and sweet potato.Although most land plants have roots which grow in the soil, some have roots which hang in te air like the banyan tree. There are other types of roots like the breathing roots, storage roots, clasping roots.Example of breathing roots are mangrove plant. Functions of stems is :
A stem carry water, mineral salts and strach from one part of the plant to another.
A stem holds the leaves and enables them to reach for sunlight which is necessary for making food. Most stems grow above ground but some grow underground. These stems store food as well. Some plants have woody stems. The trunk of a tree is a woody stem. The covering of the trunk is called the bark. Some plants do not have woody stems. Some plants have weak stems. They creep or twine around for support. They may climb up tall trees or fences to help the leaves get enough sunlight. Hope you like the info!! Done By: Joline Lum 3-E^^

Leaves

*A leaf is an above-ground plant organ specialized for photosynthesis. For this purpose, a leaf is typically flat and thin.

*Leaf have different shapes and sizes there are spear shape and sword shape.

*Leaf also have different edges like wavy edge, lobed edge, entire edge and jagged edge.

Circulatory System

Hi Ms Coelho and friends,I am going to share with you about circulatory system.
The circulatory system works together with the respiratory system to supply
oxygen to all parts of the body.It consists of the heart ,blood and blood vessels.
Functions :
Maintain a constant flow of blood which helps in the delivery of oxygen, food and warmth to all parts of the body

Carries waste to be disposed from the body.

Heart ;
It pumps blood to all parts of the body.
Never stops working throughout our lives .
It works works more actively when we are involved in a physical actvity and less actively when we are sleeping or at rest

Leaves By Cynthia

Hello Miss Coelho and friends! I am here to share about leaves.
Leaves contain a Green pigment called Chlorophyll. Chlorophyll helps
the plant to trap sunlight for a process which the plant make food
called photosynthesis. Plants need carbon-dioxide, sunlight and water in
order to make food. Oxygen is produced in the food making process.

Leaves come in different shapes and sizes. There are leaves with lots of different
shapes. There are heart-shaped, umbrella-shaped, spear-shaped and sword-shaped(etc).
They have different edges too! Entire edge, jagged edge, lobed edge, toothed edge(etc).

About Fishes

Hi Miss Coelho and friends, today I am going to share about fishes. The largest fish in the world is the WhaleShark. It is about 12.65 metres(41.50)long weighed more than 21.5 tonnes.Fishes have beautiful and colourful scales as their outer body covering.Fishes breathe through gills.Fishes takes in dissolved air from the water.Fishes takes in water by the mouth and the bloodstream will absorb the good air and give to the other parts of the body. While the waste water will come out from the gills.Fishes reproduce by laying eggs. You know something that some fishes gives birth to young alive but, it is not a mammal it is a fish.Eg.Molly,Guppy and the Swordtail fish. Some fishes live in fresh water and some fishes live in sea water and some fishes live in both sea and fresh water.

I hope you have enjoyed my sharing!THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!

life cycles by John Paul

Living things can reproduce in about 2 ways: by giving birth to young alive or laying eggs.

A life cycle shows what the living things go through. Different living things have different life cycles. The egg must be fertilized in oder to hatch. Even we humans have life cycles. Plants do have life cycles. Some living things have 3 stages in life cycle, some 4 and some 2.

For example, a butterfly's first stage is an egg, it cannot move around. When it goes to Stage 2, It can move and eat. It is called the larva (different stages have different names too). Then it goes to stage 3. It stops moving and eating. It will change into a pupa. In the pupa, it will go through many changes. When it reaches stage 4, it has become a fully grown butterfly! It has wings and can fly. It can eat too!

What are amphibians

Amphibians (class Amphibia), such as frogs, toads, salamanders, newts, and caecilians, are ectothermic (or cold-blooded) animals that metamorphose from a juvenile water-breathing form, to an adult air-breathing form. Though amphibians typically have four limbs, the Caecilians are notable for being limbless. Unlike other land animals (amniotes), amphibians lay eggs in water. Amphibians are superficially similar to reptiles.
Amphibians are ecological indicators, and in recent decades there has been a dramatic decline in amphibian populations around the globe. Many species are now threatened or extinct.

The most obvious part of the amphibian metamorphosis is the formation of four legs in order to support the body on land. But there are several other changes:
-The gills are replaced by other respiratory organs, i.e., lungs.
-The skin changes and develops glands to avoid dehydration.
-The eyes develop eyelids and adapt to vision outside the water.
-An eardrum is developed to lock the middle ear.
-In frogs and toads, the tail disappears.

About RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

I am weak in respiretery system, so I did research.
The most common respiratory disease is smoking and
breathing in air pollution.i myself do not like breathing
in air pollution and smoke. When we hiccup, cough and sneeze,
we will remember the respiratory system. We tend to forget
the respiratary system.cough is the way your system clears the airway.
A sneeze is caused by an irritation in the upper airway.
Hiccups tend to be VeRy annoying to people.

More Imformation About Plants

Today i am going to share more imformation about plants. One important thing about plant is
they have three stages of life cycles,Stage 1 is seed, stage 2 is young plant and 3 stage is adult plany which is fully grown.
Plant can be classified as:
1.flowering or non-flowering plants
2.land or water plants
3.poisonous or non-poisonous plants
Plant usually die from:
1.old age
2.lack of food or water
3.diseases
4.being eaten by predators
Plants Part:
1.Leaf
2.Stem
3.Roots

1.The Leaves,

Leaves an be classify by many types ,for examples shape, veins and edges. They are green in colour.Their job is to make food for the plant by using carbon dioxide, chlorophyll, light and water. The process of making food is known as photosynthesis.Carbon dioxide enters the leaves through tiny openings called stomata. The veins carry food made by the leaves to the stem

2.The Stem

The stem of the plant transports water and nutrients from the roots to the rest of the plants. It also transports manufactured food from the leaves to the rest of the plants. It also supports the branches and leaves, and spreads them out to get as much sunlight as possible.
Stem can be grouped as:
1.woody e.x. stem of hibiscus
2.non-woody e.x. stem of balsam
Some stems are adapted to store food which can also develop into new plants.

3.The Roots

Roots hold the plant firmly to the ground.Roots also take in water and nutrients from the soil.

Reptiles and amphibians by Gangaaram

I am going to share with you about reptiles and amphibians

The first reptiles evolved in the Upper Carboniferous period, at least 300 million years ago.

Reptiles and amphibians are cold blooded. Most of the reptiles lay eggs but some give birth young alives such as some snakes.

There are 8,240 species of reptiles in the world, inhabiting every continent except Antarctica.
Hundreds of millions of years ago, amphibians became the first vertebrates to live on land.

Frogs can breathe not only with their lungs, but also through their skin. A frog's skin is thin and contains many mucous glands that keep it moist. Oxygen can be absorbed through this thin, damp skin.

Some turtles and tortoises, including the Eastern box turtle, can live for more than a century.

Area Perimeter and Square Root

Area:

Area is the amount of space inside the boundary of a flat (i.e. two-dimensional) object such as a triangle or square. The area of a figure measures the size of the region enclosed by the figure. This is usually expressed in terms of some square unit. A few examples of the units used are square meters, square centimeters or square kilometers.

e.g.
Area of a rectangle = length x breadth

In case of a square since length = breadth
So Area of a square = length x breadth

Perimeter:

It is he curve or line enclosing a plane area, i.e. it is the distance around the outer limits of any two dimensional object. This is usually expressed in terms of some unit of length. A few examples of the units used are meters, centimeters, kilometers

e.g.
Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 x (length + breadth)

Square Root:

In mathematics, the square root of a number (say X) is the number (say r) when multiplied by itself (i.e. r) the result is equal to the given number (i.e. X)

r x r = X
r2 = X

e.g.
Square root of 25 is 5.
5 x 5 = 25

Area and Perimeter

Hi Miss Coelho,

The different between AREA and PERIMETER is........

AREA: AREA is length x breadth , length is always longer than breadth and breadth is always shorter than breadth.

PERIMETER:PERIMETER is to add all the sides together you must count the line around the figure.

You can learn more about AREA and PERIMETER in this websites: area and perimeter , powerpoint on area and perimeter.

area and perimeter

Hello Ms Coelho

This is about area perimeter

For area,is lenght times breath. The lenght is always longer than the breath, not the other way round.Area is inside the figure. The units for area is cm2 or m2.

For perimeter, you must add all the sides.Perimeter is outside the figure. The units for perimeter is cm or m.

That is all what I have.I hope you like it

area and perimeter by John Paul

The area is the the shape or the figure. The perimeter is around the figure.
Area:
*Area is length times the breadth. The breadth is always shoter than the length and the length is always longer than the breadth.
*For area, you use cm2.You read it as two centermeter square. So if you get the answer of 13, it will be 13 centimeter square. You write it as 13cm2.
*So for area, you multiply, not add.
Perimeter:
*The perimeter is the distance around the outside/around of the shape.
*If you ever come across a question that ask you what is the perimeter of the figure, an easier method would be imagine that you are walking aroud the figure.
So for perimeter, you add, not plus.

Regards,
John Paul ~_~!

Area & Perimeter by Naqqiudynn

The word 'perimeter' literally means 'distance around'. It is a path that surrounds an area. The term may be used either for the path or its length. For a rectangle like this one:

3 cm
A---------B
| | 2 cm
| |
D---------C

One way to 'walk around' the rectangle would be to move from A to B (a distance of 3 cm), then from B to C (a distance of 2 cm), then from C to D (a distance of 3 cm), and finally from D to A (a distance
of 2 cm).

The total distance involved would be 3 + 2 + 3 + 2 which is 10cm. So that's the perimeter of the rectangle: 10cm.

An area is a count of how many unit squares fit inside a figure. two dimensions, whereas perimeter involves only one. The way to think of area is in terms of the amount of paint that is needed to cover a shape. If something has twice as much area, then twice as much paint is needed.

For a rectangle, we compute area by multiplying the length by the width:

3 cm
A---------B
| | 2 cm perimeter = 3 + 2 + 3 + 2 = 10 cm
| | area = 3 * 2 = 6 square cm
D---------C

Perimeter is the one that you must count on the outer part of the figure.
Even if you change the figure into any figure, even if complicated ones,
it WILL be the same perimeter.
However, area is a totally different story. The perimeter will be the
same but the area WILL NOT!You will find the area if you times

length.I am sorry that i do not have any other information than this...

Area and Perimeter

Hi,Miss Coelho
I am going to share with you about area and perimeter

The area is always inside the figure. To find the
area, you have to take the the breadth
and multiply it by the length to find the area.
For area we use this symbol cm2 or m2=square metres
or square centimetres.

The perimeter is the lines of the shape of the figure.
Perimeter figures can be made into any
shape.
To find the perimeter, add all the sides
of the figure to find the perimeter. For perimeter
we use M=metres.

The difference between area and perimeter

Hi,Ms Coelho

Today i am going to share with you the difference between area
area and perimeter.
The area is in the inside the figure.
To find the area you must take the length times breath.

The perimeter is the lines outside the figure.
To find the perimeter you must count the lines or divide
accordingly.

Hi everybody, I am going to share with you what is the difference between area and perimeter.

Area is in the figure.
You can find out the area by : length x breath
Area is count by cm or cm2.

perimeter is around the figure.
You can find out the perimeter by adding all the sides of the figure.
perimeter is count by cm.

Area and perimeter

Hello everybody I am Nicole here i am here to tell you more about Area and perimeter

Area is outside the figure and when you find the area you must say this Area=to length x breadth
and the area is usually longer than the perimeter.

Perimeter is inside the figure and when you want to find the perimeter you must + all the sides
and usually the perimeter is shorter than the area.

facts

The perimeter is inside the figure while the area is outside the figure.

Area and Peremiter

Hi Miss Coelho,
I am here to share about what is the distance between area and perimeter.

Area
Area is length times breath.Area also means inside the figure.
If the area is made up of squares,we must count the number of squares.

Perimeter
As for Perimeter we must count the outside of the figure.
Exmple:If the figure is a square and each sides is 6cm, we must add up all the sides.
6+6+6+6=24

So perimeter means outside the figure.

Area and Perimeter

Hi Miss Coelho,

I am going to tell you more about Area and Perimeter.

Area :

Area is the amount of surface a 2D shape covers. Area is the space inside of a figure. It is measured in square units.

We calculate it by multiplying the length by the breadth.

Perimeter :

Perimeter is the total distance around the outside of a 2D shape.

We calculate it by adding together all the sides of a shape.

Area & Perimeter

Hi, Ms Coelho,I am going to tell you the difference between Area & Perimeter.

Perimeter

The perimeter of a shape is the length of its item.
We add the length of every side to find the Perimeter

Area

Area tells us the size of a shape or a figure.
It tells us the the size of square, rectangles, circles, triangles, polygons or any enclose figure.

I hope now you understand the better the differences between Are & Perimeter.

Difference between area and perimeter

Hi everybody i am going to share with you all about area and perimeter.

Area is inside the figure ang perimeter is outside the figure. The word perimeter means the distance around.Another way of thinking about perimeter is if you walked around the shape, the perimeter would be the distance it takes to walk around it. Perimeter is found by adding.Area is the number of square units that can fit inside of the rectangle.

Hi Miss Coelho,
I am here to share about area and perimeter.
Area is inside the figure and perimeter is outside the figure.

Area-
To get area, you have to multiply the sides of the figure.
You also have to put the cm square beside the answer.

Perimeter-
To get perimeter, you have to add all the sides together.
For example you have a square with sides 4 cm. You will
have to either multiply 4 by 4 or to add them together like this
4+4+4+4=16.

Hope you all enjoy viewing it!!!! :)

Hi evrybody.Im going to tell you about area and perimeter.

Area-If you want to find the area of a square, you'll have to multiply one by another side. That will give you the area.If you want to find the area of a rectangle, you'll have to do the same.

Perimeter-If you want to find the perimeter of a square, you do not multiply one side by another side. You'll have to plus all the sides together. That will give you the perimeter. If you want to find the perimeter of a rectangle, you'll have to do the same.

Area and Perimeter

Hi all,

I am going to talk to you all about area and perimeter.

AREA

So, AREA is inside the figure.
If each side of a square is 5 cm, you must 5 mutiply by five and the answer is 25.
You just need to LENGTH times BREADTH.
LENGTH is longer than the BREADTH.
BREADTH is shorter than the LENGTH.

PERIMETER

It is distance around the figure.
If each side of a square is 5 cm, you must 5 mutiply by 4 or 5+5+5+5=20.

Difference between area and perimeter by Gangaaram

Dont be confused with area and perimeter because i am going to share with you about the difference between area and perimeter. The area is inside the figure. The perimeter is around the figure. If there is question comes out in the topic area you have to find the breath and the length of the figure and times both numbers. If there is question comes out in the topic perimeter you have to find the length of the sides and plus all the numbers. In area there is halfs and one whole square.Sometimes perimeter is quite hard because you have to count the lines of the figure but if you keep on revising the topic perimeter you will understand perimeter and it will be easy for you.

I am going to share with you about the roots of a plant and other parts too.
Roots:The roots play an important part, they bring water, mineral salt and sunlight. The roots hold the plant firmly to the ground so that the plant wont be pushed away when the wind goes wild. The roots of the tree is huge because trees are tall and big.

Flower:Many plants have flowers, flowers come in different shapes, sizes and colours. When the flower starts to grow a gardener will be happy because whenever a flower grows the flower drops and then the fruit starts to grow.

Leaves:The leaves are very important for the plant if there are no leaves the plant will die because they wont get enough food supply. The leaves are green because have green pigment called chlorophyll. The green pigment called cholorophyll takes in sunlight so the plant has enough heat. The leaves make food by chlorophyll, the leaves then transfer the food to other parts of the plant. When the leaves are in different colours the still have chlorophyll, when you scratch the leaves threre will be green chlorophyll.

Thats the end of my post.

Roots by Gwen!

Roots are part of plants. There are different types of roots in this world. The function of the root is to get water
and minerals for the plant. The roots also keeps the ground firm. If a plant has no roots, it will die as it cannot make food. The roots are under the ground of a plant so you cannot see it.

Hope you have enjoyed my sharing!

About Roots

Roots are the part of a plant. All plants have roots.

Do you know what the roots do???

.Takes in minerals and nutrients for the plant

.Hold the plants frimly to the ground

But some roots do not hold the plant frimly to the ground.
They are many kinds of roots like :

.Brething roots
.storage roots
.creepers
.Underground roots
There are also roots that can be eaten like carrots.

ROOTS

Hi Miss Coelho, ( and friends! )

I am going to tell you more about roots!

A true root system consists of a primary root and secondary roots (or lateral roots).

Roots hold trees or plants firmly to the ground.

Roots will generally grow in the direction where there is air, mineral nutrients and water to meet the plant's needs.

Roots will not grow in dry soil.

About the roots

Hi,
Miss Coelho

The roots help provide support by anchoring the plant and absorbing water and nutrients needed for growth. They can also store sugars and carbohydrates that the plant uses to carry out other functions.Plants can have either a taproot system (such as carrots) or a fibrous root system (such as turf grass). In both cases, the roots are what carries the water and nutrients needed for plants to grow.

More About Roots(Plant System)

Hi Miss Coelho,

I am going to share with you more about roots,
Roots are very important to plants,it absorbs water and mineral salts for the the plant.
It also hold the plant firmly to the ground so that the plant would not collapse. There are many different types of roots for example:Breathing Roots,Tap Roots,Fibrous Roots,Tubercular,Cauline.
Breathing Roots:The roots are hanging.
Tap Roots:Roots that grow vertically into the earth.
Fibrous Roots:Roots that formed in bundles where it is not possible to determine the primary roots.
Tubercular:Roots in a form of a tubercle.
Cauline:Roots that shoot from the stem.

Roots

Hi Ms Coelho,

I am going to share to you about roots.

Most roots grow in the grond. Some roots grow
in the air and some on water.Roots that are growing
in air is called aerial roots.Roots can take food from the
soil to the stem or leaves. That procces is called photosynthesis.
Roots can be made into leater handbags too. Most tree
roots can be seen clearly above the grown. Some roots are called
breathing roots. Some fruits like carrots and potatoes.

The 'Roots'.....

Normally, people will wonder what is the use of roots. When there is a landslide,it is because there is not much roots.Roots help to support the plants AND support the ground. In my experience, there was a fallen tree near a construction site.My mother explained that it is because there are not much roots. When there is construction going on ,near the trees, they will cut the roots first.Roots also suck in minerals to transport to the stems, then to other parts of the plants. It amazes me when I learnt roots play an important part for the ground AND the plants. It is my pleasure to share with you(the class and Miss Coelho)things...:)

Roots hold the plant from fallng and also help to absorb the water. The roots hold the plant firmly to the ground. Some plants have strong roots and some plants have weak roots. For water plants, you can push them around easily becaues their roots are not on the ground.their roots just take in(absorb)water.Tunips, carrots and sweet potatos are roots too!Althou most plants have roots in the ground, some roots hang in the air! There is also a kind of root called breathing roots! They stick out of the ground! You can find them at mangroves!

More Imformation on plant system

The roots function:
1)It grows deep into the soil and spread far and wide to hold the plants firmly to the ground.
2)It also absorb water and mineral salts from the soil.
The leaves function:
1)It makes food for the plant.
2)The process of making food I known as photosynthesis.
3)Leaves need light, water, carbon dioxide and chlorophlly.
The stem function:
1)inside a stem, there are many tubes which carry water, mineral salts and food from ne part of the plant to another.
2)It holds the leaves and enables them to reach for sunlight which is necessary for making food.

facts about roots

Hi everyone, my name is weijie and i am going to tell you more about roots.
Roots is part of a plant system that absorbs water and minerals up the stem to the leaves to make food for the plant. The roots also holds the plant upride for supporting. The roots are overlooked, probably because they are less visible than the rest of the plant. However, it's important to understand plant root systems because they have a pronounced effect on a plant's size and vigor, method of propagation, adaptation to soil types, and response to cultural practices and irrigation.
Roots typically originate from the lower portion of a plant or cutting. They have a root cap, but lack nodes and never bear leaves or flowers directly. Their principal functions are to absorb nutrients and moisture, anchor the plant in the soil, support the stem, and store food. In some plants, they can be used for propagation.
