life cycles by John Paul

Living things can reproduce in about 2 ways: by giving birth to young alive or laying eggs.

A life cycle shows what the living things go through. Different living things have different life cycles. The egg must be fertilized in oder to hatch. Even we humans have life cycles. Plants do have life cycles. Some living things have 3 stages in life cycle, some 4 and some 2.

For example, a butterfly's first stage is an egg, it cannot move around. When it goes to Stage 2, It can move and eat. It is called the larva (different stages have different names too). Then it goes to stage 3. It stops moving and eating. It will change into a pupa. In the pupa, it will go through many changes. When it reaches stage 4, it has become a fully grown butterfly! It has wings and can fly. It can eat too!

Best regards,
John Paul
